Alexandros PissouriosOn Second Thoughts
9 October - 15 December 2026
It’s almost 6am.
I shoot 20ft of film:
My bed.
Unmade.
It takes me a while to remove
the eggshells from the omelette to be.
It takes me a long time to learn
how to play Bach’s concerto in D minor.
Maybe I can make a film
with the same patience.
The quietness
of freshly hung laundry.
The morning light bouncing off
marble and linen.
There are films hiding in plain sight.
A place I love, people I am attracted to,
time that passes.
I adjust the eyepiece to my prescription.
Then I forget about it.
Despair and longing.
Two sides of the same coin.
An image of a coin,
spinning.

On Second Thoughts is the first solo exhibition in Cyprus by Alexandros Pissourios , held on occasion of the 5th edition of Limassol Art Walks, 2026.
For On Second Thoughts, the artist begins with his domestic environment and drifts to a valley near his home in London—places where desire and social life meet the outdoors, bringing together a private, exploratory process with an openness to chance encounters. His practice develops in relation to places and bodies to which he repeatedly returns, moving between observation and staging.
Looking closely at his immediate surroundings, Alexandros Pissourios reflects on his own experience, filming and writing about the minor things that hold his attention, tracing their emotional resonance and the connections they suggest. His work is attentive to pulse and moments of stillness interrupted by movement, and to how repetition can make an ordinary images feel newly present. Rather than looking for something beneath the surface, Pissourios stays with the act of looking itself, allowing time and recurrence to shift how things are seen.
Alexandros Pissourios (b. 1982) is an artist and filmmaker working across photography, 16mm film, and video, based between London and Cyprus. His work has been presented internationally in exhibitions, screenings and live programmes at the Serpentine (London, UK), Cubitt Gallery (London, UK), NiMAC (Nicosia, Cyprus), The Film-Makers’ Cooperative (New York, USA), Lux/ICA Biennial of Moving Image (London, UK), St. Moritz Art Film Festival (St. Moritz, Switzerland), London Short Film Festival (London, UK), Brooklyn Film Festival (New York, USA), Athens Ethnofest (Athens, Greece), and the Lemesos International Documentary Festival (Limassol, Cyprus).
